First Look: DVC Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort will soon be home to the newest DVC property! The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort will be the next Disney Vacation Club offering, with a planned opening in Summer 2024.

One of the three original Walt Disney World Resorts, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort fosters a sense of community amongst Guests visiting from all over the U.S. for cabin, tent, and RV-style camping experiences. We’re excited for Members to be able to join in on the fun and experience accommodations at this beautiful, historic Resort.

Nestled within the enchanting forest of the Walt Disney World Resort, the newly unveiled Disney Vacation Club property at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort promises an extraordinary escape for Members seeking a perfect blend of nature and magic. This Resort is situated on the shores of Bay Lake and captures the essence of rustic charm while offering all the magic and modern comforts you can expect from Disney.

Fort Wilderness currently offers approximately 800 campsites and 400 cabins. The campgrounds have been open since November 1971, just after Magic Kingdom opened in October 1971. Now, for the first time, Disney Vacation Club Members can enjoy deluxe accommodations in the heart of Fort Wilderness.

Spread over 750 acres of lush pines, Fort Wilderness is located in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area and is only about a mile from the park via a tranquil boat ride.

New DVC Accommodations

The new cabins at Fort Wilderness will offer 350 new energy-efficient and environmentally friendly structures using the same footprint as the current cabins they will replace. The cabins will reflect a harmonious blend of rustic aesthetics and modern luxury. Guests can expect amenities such as fully-equipped kitchens, floor-to-ceiling windows, personal patio decks, and enchanting views of the surrounding wilderness.

Based on the artist’s renderings, you will enter the kitchen and living room area when you walk into a cabin.  The kitchen will have everything a family needs to prepare a meal or just reheat leftovers. (We usually don’t have leftovers from Tambu Lounge, but when we do, we’re not letting those noodles and potstickers go to waste.) There will be plenty of storage available, a small dining table, refrigerator, coffee maker, full-size oven, and microwave.

Just off the kitchen is a sink and vanity leading to the entrance of the only bathroom. The bathroom will have a shower, latrine, and an additional vanity so family members can use multiple spaces to get ready for the day.

The living room will have a sofa that transforms into a queen-sized Murphy bed, which sleeps 2. There is also an ottoman, a single chair, and a 65-inch HDTV for a family movie night.

The cabin will accommodate up to 6 guests, with the main bedroom having a queen-sized bed and twin-size bunk beds adjacent. There’s also an HDTV, nightstand, dresser, and ample storage under the bed for luggage.  The theming has accents of Chip & Dale, Mickey, and Pluto, with muted colors and lots of wood accents to pay homage to the natural environment that surrounds you.

Immersive Nature Experiences:

One of the highlights of the Fort Wilderness experience is the opportunity to connect with nature. The resort offers an array of outdoor activities, including walking trails, biking trails, horseback riding, and fishing excursions. Families can gather around a campfire for storytelling sessions, sign-a-longs, and enjoy the nightly Electrical Water Pageant on Bay Lake. The harmonious coexistence of nature and Disney magic creates an atmosphere that is unlike any other DVC location. (Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort may be a close second!)
