Disney’s Animal Kingdom villas

Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom opened on April 22, 1998 as the resort destinations fourth theme park. The concept originated from no less than Walt Disney himself, who thought of populating Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise with real animals. While his Imagineers convinced him to use Audio-Animatronic animals instead, Walt Disney’s idea of a theme park with actual wildlife finally came to fruition with the creation of Animal Kingdom thirty years after his death.

Today, Animal Kingdom is one of the most visited theme parks in all six Disney resort complexes around the world. It is also the largest by far, encompassing 540 acres, including the 110-acre Kilimanjaro Safari grounds. It’s home to around 2,000 animals of approximately 300 species, brought in from zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums.

Through a systematic barrier and security structure, Animal Kingdom offers the magic of wildlife, such as lions, tigers, gorillas, zebras, and giraffes, seemingly roaming freely in their natural environment. The theme park features six distinct attractions, as well as wonderful entertainment, amenities, and lodging to give guests an unforgettable resort experience.

Here’s a look at the outstanding Disney Vacation Club Resort known as the Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village and Jumbo House, located just outside the gates of the Disney Animal Kingdom theme park.

Kidani Village

Inspired by the kraal, a traditional African village composed of several huts, Kidani Village features a collection of studios, one, two, and three bedroom villas arranged in a horseshoe-curved design. The studios can accommodate up to four adults, while the one bedroom villas can comfortably fit 5. The two bedroom accommodate 9 adults and the Grand Villas sleep up to 12.  Guests in the village can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding savannas where various African wildlife species freely roam.

Jambo House

As with Kidani Village, Jambo House was also inspired by the African kraal. It is surrounded by four lush savannas that are home to over 200 hoofed animals and birds. Jambo House features the same size accommodations as Kidani – studios, one, two, and three bedroom villas, some of which offer breathtaking views of the savannas.

Amenities at Kidani Village and Jambo House

Kidani Village and Jambo House offer topnotch amenities. As they’re located close to each other, guests at either hotel complex can easily access the amenities in each one, including:

• African-inspired heated pools – Kidani Village is just walking distance to the Samawati Springs Pool, which features a 128-foot waterslide, two whirlpool spas, and a water playground. Jambo House is closer to Uzima Springs Pool, which also has a waterslide, two whirlpool spas, and a wading pool for kids.
• Fun animal programs led by animal specialists, where guests can learn about hoofed animals
• Wine tasting at the Jiko restaurant, featuring products from South Africa’s wine country
• Simba’s Clubhouse at Jambo House – A supervised activity center for kids
• Various restaurants offering American and African dishes
• Lounges and pool bars
• Tennis courts
• Fitness centers
