Here’s what you can expect at Disney’s Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land

Entrance of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida

Disney fans of all ages are abuzz with two new exciting themed ares at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Florida  – Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land.

Star Wars Land is set to open at Walt Disney World in 2019. Toy Story Land opened to a record crowd in Orlando on June 30, 2018. As early as five hours before the opening, thousands had lined up outside the entrance to make sure they’re among the first to experience this new themed attraction.

Toy Story Land

This 11-acre themed area will take you to Andy’s backyard, where you will be shrunk to toy size. Everything has been set to scale to make you feel like you’ve truly entered the world of Woody, Buzz, Slinky, and the rest of the toys in the immensely popular Pixar franchise.

Andy’s giant footprints greet visitors at the walkway by the entrance, setting the theme in motion. Green army men and jumbo-sized dominoes and Tinker Toys are seen all over the place. The quick-serve restaurant, Woody’s Lunchbox, has a giant Thermos bottle on one side.

The rides in Toy Story Land are housed in toy boxes, and they are enormous in size as well as in thrills. Two of the major rides are:

  • Slinky Dog Dash – This family-friendly roller coaster has no less than Slinky Dog’s coils as the ride vehicle and runs nearly the entire expanse of the theme park. The coaster includes a launcher “designed by Andy” that backs up the vehicle and shoots it into a section where there are plenty of sound and lighting effects.
  • Alien Swirling Saucers – Inspired by an action-packed scene in The Toy Story movie, this ride will take guests swirling and twirling on toy rocket ships piloted by three-eyed green aliens vying to be captured by “the claw.”

Star Wars Land

Star Wars Land, to be known as Star Wars: At Galaxy’s Edge, is set on the planet Batuu, in a village called Black Spire Outpost. The outpost is an “infamous stop for traders, adventurers, and smugglers travelling around the Outer Rim and Wild Space.” The planet is littered by the “petrified remains of once-towering ancient trees” found along the outpost’s rivers and plains. These ancient spires are more than just landmarks – they have become “the heart of the outpost itself.”

The themed area is being designed as an immersive theater experience, where guests follow a plot line as they make their way through the park’s various attractions.

There will be two signature rides, and while not a lot of details are known about them yet, some details have been leaked to the public. One of the rides involve the Resistance Troop Transport, where guests will find themselves thrown in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. The second ride will have guests going on a secret mission aboard the legendary Millennium Falcon.
